CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN JR. HIGH SCHOOL

Project Overview: 86,400 SF Addition and Renovation

Achieving delicate balance for the school district between budget, style, sophistication and fun takes design knowledge and artistic talent. Inexpensive materials used in creative ways enhance the common area floor tile patterns which were replicated into painted wall graphics. The broad areas of saturated color were carefully selected and located to compliment the detailed architectural elements, improve scale of the space and stimulate learning for the students. Historical elements salvaged from the existing building were reused. An existing exterior terra-cotta tile bas-relief sculpture was restored with the help of the art department resources and relocated to the new entrance corridor shown above. Many sustainable elements were addressed in the addition such as local resources, high reflectance/low VOC paints, recyclable carpet, and high density vinyl composition tiles.
