Project Overview: 20,000 SF Renovation
Founded in 1871, this church is one of the city’s largest and most active congregations. This fifty year old sanctuary consisting, of 2,500 seats, was in need of an updated image. Elements such as the pipe organ, wood wainscot, ceramic tile floor and alter furnishings remained in place. Coordination of new paint, refinishing the pews, upholstery materials and carpet were chosen with consideration to the existing features. Paint color was selected to contrast the copper tones in the organ and bring a focal point to the room. Painted trim along the architectural features was designed to highlight the colonnade, windows and ceiling soffit. Warm paint tones coordinated with the limestone columns and altar surround. The palette and carpet established in the sanctuary is also used as a standard throughout the auxiliary areas of the church.
