Project Overview: 314,000 SF New Addition (80 Beds)
Metal trellis canopies above reception counters and steel covered columns throughout the hospital were incorporated to consider the community's steel mill heritage. This hospital addition includes a new state-of-the-art medical technology, emergency department, critical care unit, cancer center, main lobby and patient floors. The owners concern for the hospital was to minimize staff while providing quality care for patients. The space plan addresses this concern by locating nurse stations as a central hub having a 360 degree view and easy access to all patient rooms. With a limited budget, material selection was restricted to essential requirements. Oversight of the furniture package allows savings that surpass the standard medical industry discount rates.
