TRATITORIA DE ANGELO

historic commercial interior design

Project Overview: 4,000 SF Renovation

The Independence Building, originally designed and built in 1898 as the cities first post office building, is transformed to an upscale trattoria reminiscent of what may be found in an Italian village. A colonnade of arches was created out of exposed round metal structural columns in the center of the space, and planters were built between the columns to divide the bar area from the dining area. Embalmed trees, plants, and twinkle lights were placed in planters along the colonnade and above the booths to replicate the ambiance of a piazza. Warm earth colored plaster alternated with old exposed brick walls to cover some of the historical blemishes, while the original stamped metal ceiling compliments the design. Shelving along the row of booths was embellished with turn-of-the-century photos, books and art.
